Each year Pantone releases the color trend of the year and we're so excited that it's one of our favorite color stories: grey and yellow. After a challenging 2020 with such disruption, anxiety and fear we look to 2021 with a renewed hope.
"The union of an enduring ultimate grey with a vibrant yellow illumianting expresses a message of positivity supported by fortitude. Practical and rock solid but at the same time warming and optimistic, this is a color combination that gives us resilience and hope. We need to feel encouraged and uplifted; this is essential to the human spirit." - Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute
Creating a color story for your wedding is a big decision and so often brides lean towards soft shades the compliment, which is beautiful and elegant. We have to admit, when a couple goes for color we get extra excited. Be cautioned, that when going for contrast it takes effort to make it look effortless - if forced it can look contrived.
Yellow is so refreshing and even more so when popped against a dark grey or platinum.
We love the look of these soft yellow gowns counter balanced by the one platinum gown and the deeper yelllow with some ivory/white flowers to soften the look.

Andl let the guys get in on the fun with a sublte hints of yellow.

Too often brides want to have their bridemaids dresses match the linens and to that we say - stop! Have them compliment, but don't make it look like the ladies are wearing the linens. Use white to be the third balancing color.

The place setting brings the look together with pop of yellow.

With table linens in steel with pops of yellow in the napkin and centerpieces, you'll want to keep the added touches subdued to avoid the contrived mix and match look that can seem like a great idea until it all comes together and looks kitschy rather than fresh and modern.
This wedding cake says a lot even though it is understated.

Let us enter into 2021 with the hope and optimism that every new union begins with. Son go forth and have fun with color and planning your wedding.
